Evening 5 – the flight back!
After 3 days of good diving, good weather and a cultural experience of Ibiza by the non divers, Sunday night everyone decided to do their own thing for eating out with the hope of eating a Dinner in under 4 hours!!!.
Some of us headed onto the sea front of Es Canar to look for an authentic Spanish meal whilst others went to the Chinese Restaurant. Most got into bed before midnight for a change and were able to sleep in arriving down for breakfast after 9. We had to vacate the hotel by 12 noon, though luggage could be left for collection and the divers gradually left to walk down to the Dive Centre on the beach to sort their equipment and dry it out before packing for the return. Most of the day was then spent lazing around and de-gassing and getting some sun bathing in whilst the equipment dried, also another trip to the beach side cafes for a lazy lunch and an opportunity for Bryan to look at the locals!!!
A presentation was made to Punta Dive and a detailed feedback (straw pole by FJ) given for the dives, Don Pedro just got the top score (lots of metal) followed closely by the two cave dives. The rest of afternoon was spent doing late shopping by some and everyone meet back up at the Hotel around 8pm to be picked up by the guys from Punta Diving for the trip back to the airport, Our vehicle diverted through Ibiza town centre to look at the old town, shops and big boats.
Fond farewells were given at the Airport Car Park. Was it going to be a quiet flight? The omens were not good as booking in or trying to was a “Green Frog” on the next desk!!!. We were soon through Check in and into the Departure Lounge. Again some took an opportunity for a last shop and even some food again. Soon we were boarding the flight home, leaving the Green Frog behind. The flight home was in fact, despite concerns expressed by Sue, very quiet indeed and many amongst the Party were soon asleep.
Before long we were arriving at Gatwick, going through passport control and into baggage collection where most of us waited about 15 mins as cases etc seem to take a long time coming. Then it was time for the good byes, hugs and kisses and off to the car parks etc to wind wearily home. It was about 3am before most of us got into bed and for some a day off Tuesday to recover, whilst other dragged themselves into work.
All in all a very good Dive holiday, perhaps not enough metal for some and fish life for others, but very good hosts Nick and Jason at Punta Dive (www.puntadive.com) who were very friendly, very helpful and are worth a recommendation providing they get Nitrox sorted for some dives such as the Don Pedro. The Hotel was also very good value for money and aimed at Families and Old folk!! So reasonably quiet.
Finally once again many thanks to Steve and Jacqui for organising the holiday. So now we look forward to August 2012 Scotland and Scapa Flow and the tunnocks!!! (MK)
